Garde-à-vous!
The cover of this weeks French Ellemagazine features the lovely Julianne Moore in a dashing 'officers coat' by Ralph Lauren.
I didn't know how much the tweedsters were struggling. I hope they are ok, as Britain's nangness depends upon it.
I am almost ashamed at how intrigued I am by this status symbols blog: it is the best advertisment for the thoughtful side of fashion. Like the girl in her vitrine of lace, ah!
The whole vail thing intrigues me. I'm guessing it's a male invention, and awfully warped really. That image you said is like a vitrine... It is so Bram Stoker. In Dracula when Lucy turns into a vampire, all long-toothed and empowered, the men have to get her back into the coffin in her bridal clothes to sustain her purity and protect themselves from her. Then they kill her with a piece of wood that is blatantly like a dildo.
And not just in fiction, as we can see from the headlines. The idea of 'rehabilitation by death' is something only the testosterised mind could come up with. I sometimes think all men should be castrated once enough sperm has been frozen to ensure the survivial of the species. Then we could all watch violence quietly subside.
